Hard to believe it’s been close to 5 years since bofagroup.com was designed. Keeping busy with other people’s projects does not leave me with much time to work on my own stuff.
So I’ve given the site and blog a slight revamp and finally have the online store up and running. More products to be added in the next couple of weeks.
For now, let me know what you think?
Thanks again to everyone who has visited the site, got some work from me or had a positive word to say regarding my work. It’s all very appreciated!

I got an email from pinstriper and filmaker Jesper Bram this morning with a sneak peak at their new teaser trailer for their upcoming documentary “Flake And Flames” which is due to be released in December. It promises to be one hell of a documentary that any pinstripe loving, kustom kultured son of a bitch will love.
Jesper is an internationally acclaimed pinstriper and artist and Dirk is a similarly admired lifestyle photographer, and their kustom kredentials opened doors and gave them candid access to top-notch names like Coop, Frank Kozik, Von Franco and The Pizz… amongst many other kustom artists and fabricators. The resulting 75-minute ‘Flake and Flames’ documentary is a pounding drool-fest of the planet’s koolest hot rods, choppers, art and music. It’s a film made with passion, it’s crowd-funded… and for the first time brings you an in-depth look at kustom kulture!
You could be part of Flake and Flames! To contribute to the production (and get some cool swag in return) just go to http://support.flakeandflames.com.
Things have been rather busy here at the Breath Of Fresh Air office so we’ll get this blog updated as soon as possible.
But I am pretty stoked to introduce my new project that I have been working on for some time. Although not quite design or illustrator orientated it’s something I’ve really been excited about and finally got it out on it’s first ride last night.
As with any kustom build, it’s never finished and I already have some changes/add ons in mind, which will all take place early next summer. But for now she will do!
I’ve been a fan of The Gypsy Gentleman series since the first one came out, and I am very stoked to see their latest issue featuring a place that, although I am from South Africa, I consider to be home…San Diego. I used to live just up the road from Black Panther Tattoo, got my hair cut at Two Roses right next to Chicano Park and Rob Benavides did some artwork for a company I used to work for. Oh, and the burgers at The Station were amazing, haha.

Two great books when it comes to the kustom world of pinstriping.

Thanks to the Concrete Skateboard Magazine for leading me on to this.
If you’re looking for some motivation & inspiration then watch this short clip on Devon Blood, a brilliant tattoo artist from the Bay Area who was almost killed during a break-in and had to relearn to draw, paint and tattoo with his left hand:
