200 ALTERNATIVE HORROR FILMS

Another production I had the pleasure of working on at Rue Morgue was the first in a line of many to come books that Rue Morgue will be releasing.
This first one is a 164 page book on “200 Alternative Horror Films You Need To See”. Every publication out there gives you their top 10 or 20 horror movies to watch and they are all the same, although great, predictable movies. This publication has a great selection of movies you have never heard of, or heard of, but never thought of watching.

Stoked to have been apart of it and trust me, it is worth every sent you spend on it.
Look for it in most good book stores and online HERE.

THE ZOMBOOK

News about the release of the illustrative zombie book “The Zombook” is slowly starting to hit the internet and news sites.
I was fortunate enough to be asked by the curator, Allan Graves, to submit an illustration along side some of the world’s top horror artists such as Dan Mumford, Ghoulish Gary, The Pizz, Eric Pigors and many more.
The book will be released on September 24.

Do yourself a favor and download this book. Visit the link HERE. It will cost you nothing (that’s right, it’s free) and it will be one of the best reads you’ve ever had.

If you’ve ever had an idea or a thought to do something and just never get around to doing it, then give this book a read and it might just be the kickstart you needed. A truly inspiring book with some great words of advice and wisdom from people that are involved with entertainment, banking, media, engineering and all walks of life.

FORGOTTEN BY LOVE

“Forgotten By Love” is a new illustration I finished for a book that will be released in the UK mid/end 2012 featuring some of the world’s best horror artists.
For now, until the book gets released, I am putting the 11″ x 14″ ciglee print up for sale in the store for all to purchase. The print came out absolutely awesome and will look great framed and up on the wall.

ROCKABILLY COFFEE BOOK

Although I tend to try and leave any “personal” work out of the Breath Of Fresh Air blog, it is rather hard to keep it out when that is some of the work I am the most proudest of.

I have spent most of my life playing in rock-n-roll bands and the last project I started about two or so years ago was a three-piece rockabilly outfit called The Mystery Train Gamblers.

We had two great photographer friends that would come along to almost every show and shoot the band live on and off stage. Having moved to California I’ve had to put the band on hold and thought it would be great to put a hard covered coffee style book together. A limited few were produced and I could not be happier with the outcome. I rather do enjoy doing layouts such as these and will hopefully be putting a few more coffee style books together for future clients.

You can view the entire coffee book HERE.

KUSTOM READING

I was fortunate enough to be given two great books by the wife this Christmas. And although they are both relatively old books, they are books that I have had my eye on for quite some time.

“Kustom Graphics II” and Juxtapoz’ “Car Culture” are two books that any hot roddin, rockabilly loving fan would thoroughly enjoy.Kustom Graphics II is a brilliant addition to their first one, filled with some of kustom kulture’s best artists and illustrators. With a small write up on each artist and a good couple of pages featuring the respective artist’s work you get a good sense of what is going on in the hot rod art world of today. Every single artist has their own unique style and it’s a visual smorgasbord of influence, ideas and inspiration. Some of my favorite artist in the book are Harry Brack, Dirty Donny Gillies, Alex Patrocinio…and, as I carry on paging through this book I realize that I pretty much love all the artists in this book! So please do yourself a favor and get a look at this book.

The second book entitled “Car Culture” put out by the art magazine Juxtapoz and is pretty similar to “Kustom Graphics II” but with a closer look at the illustrators and photographers of the hot rod world. Being a huge fan of hot rods and photography I really enjoy the pages on legendary hot rod photographers such as Peter Vincent, David Perry and Pat Ganahl.

These two books are invaluable to any designer, illustrator and photographer interested in the hot rod and custom world. A definite must for the coffee table!
