FESTIVAL OF FEAR

Had a blast doing the poster and tshirt illustration for this year’s Festival of Fear. Somewhat of a new style for me and although no where near perfect I am happy with the first attempt. Looking forward to doing more things like this in the near future.

FAN EXPO 2013

Just wanted to give a huge thanks to Dave Alexander, Paige Reynolds, Gary Pullin, Angus Buyers and everyone who came out to the “If they came from within: an alternative history of Canadian Horror” panel that was held at this year’s Fan Expo / Festival of Fear event.
Had a great response to my poster which I was very surprised with and really appreciated the positive feedback. It was not an easy task doing a poster for THE Brandon Cronenberg, and being along side such talented artists as mentioned above was a definite honor!

IF THEY CAME FROM WITHIN

I was honoured to be asked by Rue Morgue’s Editor, Dave Alexander, if I would like to participate in his horror movie poster show called “If They Came From Within: An Alternative History of Canadian Horror Movies” alongside some great artists such as Gary Pullin, Justin Erickson, Jason Edmiston, Paige Reynolds, Rupert Bottenberg and many more amazing artists.

The idea was to take a movie synopsis written by a director for a movie that had not been made yet and create the poster that would accompany that movie. I was fortunate enough to get the amazing Brandon Cronenberg’s (Antiviral) synopsis for his 1968 movie called “Autohorror Vacuum” and the poster below is what I produced.

The show is on for another whole month at the Steam Whistle Brewery in Toronto and I encourage you to go check it out. You can even have yourself a beer while viewing the art.

TEXAS FRIGHTMARE WEEKEND

I had the pleasure of doing a tee design for Rue Morgue and Texas Frightmare Weekend 2013 and you can now check it out below.
It will only be available from the Rue Morgue booth at the Texas Frightmare Weekend so make sure you get down to the booth early to grab one.

RAPTURE FEST

I was asked to design the poster for Toronto’s upcoming psychobilly/punk festival called Rapture Fest put on by Blacktooth Entertainment, featuring The Brains, Koffin Kats, Turbo AC’s, The Matadors and more.
Had a blast doing it and looking forward to the show. If you have not seen or heard of The Brains then do yourself a favour and get hold of their music.

DON’T SHRED ON ME

Dave at Edison MFG Co. in San Diego asked me to come up with a new tee design for him and I was more than happy to oblige.
I’m pretty happy with the way this one came out.
You can buy this very tee from his website HERE.

METAL HAMMER AWARD SHOW 2012

Very excited to finally see my illustration I did for Germany’s Metal Hammer Award Show last year up on the big screen behind some amazing musicians such as Vinnie Paul, In Flames, Rammstein and more.

200 ALTERNATIVE HORROR FILMS

Another production I had the pleasure of working on at Rue Morgue was the first in a line of many to come books that Rue Morgue will be releasing.
This first one is a 164 page book on “200 Alternative Horror Films You Need To See”. Every publication out there gives you their top 10 or 20 horror movies to watch and they are all the same, although great, predictable movies. This publication has a great selection of movies you have never heard of, or heard of, but never thought of watching.

Stoked to have been apart of it and trust me, it is worth every sent you spend on it.
Look for it in most good book stores and online HERE.

BACK FROM THE MORGUE

Once again, I have slacked in the blog department and it seems like not much has gone on behind the Breath Of Fresh Air Design doors. But quite the opposite in fact. The last 3 or 4 months have been crazy busy and I’ve had the chance to work for some great clients from a guitar builder to a cafe racer/motorbike company and everything in between (more will be revealed on those in 2013).

But what has really kept me busy, and something I feel so fortunate to be apart of, has been the involvement with, what I consider to be the best horror magazine in the world, Rue-Morgue Magazine. The amazing and talented team invited me in to help with the design and layout of the magazine and it has been an honour, and a blast ever since.

If you do not know of the magazine or haven’t read an issue lately, then do yourself a favour and pop on over to your local newsagent (or go online and purchase a subscription) and get yourself the latest issue…At the very least, make sure you get the 15th Anniversary Halloween Issue (#127). The brilliant content aside, visually, art director Justin Erickson did an amazing job and it is horror-eye-candy at it’s very best.

So, with the chance of this sounding like a “new-year’s resolution”, and trust me, it’s not, I hope to keep this blog and the website updated a bit more often.
